According to Aldar, one of the top universities in the United Kingdom will establish a new campus on Abu Dhabi’s Fahid Island within three years.
According to Aldar, the new campus of King’s College School Wimbledon is expected to be able to provide education for up to 2,200 students and will be operational by 2028. There was a further mention of Fahid Island’s master plan this week. The total development is expected to cost around AED 40 billion ($10.9 billion) and is planned on 2.7 million square metre island. The island will feature approximately around 6,000 luxury residences and two hotels.
Talal Al Dhiyebi, chief executive of the Aldar company, stated that they’re pleased to announce the first King’s College School Wimbledon to Abu Dhabi and a milestone that further solidifies Aldar’s expanding education portfolio and commitment to educational excellence.
The announcement of new school will strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a prime destination for world-class education and a global hub for talent development. The King’s track record of preparing students for the world’s top universities and academic excellence will further support the initiative.
King’s College School is the first stage of Aldar’s island-wide educational plan, which was created to meet the increasing demand, the developer said in a statement on Monday.
Fahid Island is expected to have a coastline of approximately 11 kilometres. The island will be located between Yas Island and Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi.
Sahar Cooper, chief executive of Aldar Education, stated, “King’s College School Wimbledon is internationally renowned for its capacity to develop well-rounded individuals with the self-assurance, empathy, and critical thinking abilities to flourish.”
The school’s comprehensive approach to education, which is based on strong principles, extensive extracurricular activities, and individualised pastoral care, will enhance Aldar Education’s offerings and help Abu Dhabi realise its goal of being a regional centre for educational excellence.
The opening of King’s College School on Fahid Island is the first stage, according to Ms. Cooper, and further “educational institutions” are anticipated as part of subsequent stages.
Bringing an authentic King’s College School Wimbledon education to the region is an exciting milestone in our goal to create a global family of top-tier international schools where we provide our students with exceptional education, mentally, spiritually and emotionally, said Karl Gross, director of international schools at King’s College School Wimbledon.
“This new collaboration expands on the achievements of our school in Wimbledon and our existing campuses overseas, giving Abu Dhabi students a singular and inspiring chance to witness the life-changing power of a King’s education and equipping them for success in the post-school world.”
