A major agreement between was signed between Microsoft and Core42, a G42 company that specialises in sovereign cloud, AI infrastructure and digital services and was announced by the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi (DGE) on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Government. The goal of the partnership is to deploy a sovereign cloud system that will enable improved innovations and improve the overall efficiencies in the delivery of government services.
The multi-year deal between Core42, Microsoft and the Abu Dhabi government was signed in front of Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority and a member of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council, as well as H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the deputy ruler of Abu Dhabi and chairman of the council.
Peng Xiao – Group CEO of G42, Satya Nadella – Chairman and CEO of Microsoft and Ahmed Tamim Hisham Al Kuttab – Chairman of the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi, formed the alliance.
Through the deal, a single high-performance sovereign cloud computing environment will be established that can handle over 11 million digital interactions each day between enterprises, residents and Abu Dhabi government institutions.
Technology has the ability to change how governments engage with the public by improving the effectiveness, usability and impact of services, according to Ahmed Al Kuttab. An important turning point in our digital transition is this collaboration. We are contributing to the creation of a potent platform that will revolutionize government services by fusing G42’s AI expertise, Microsoft’s cloud technologies and the Government’s strategic vision.”
A number of objectives underpin the Abu Dhabi government’s ambition to become the first fully AI-native government in the world by 2027, further improving government services to make them more effective and accessible for citizens and residents and increasing security and transparency for businesses and investors while developing a more resilient and creative work environment for public sector employees.
“AI will revolutionize how governments function and serve their citizens globally and Abu Dhabi is setting the standard,” stated Satya Nadella. As we assist Abu Dhabi in becoming the first AI-native government in history, we are establishing a benchmark for the public sector’s adoption of AI through our collaboration with the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi and G42″.
By investing AED13 billion (US$3.54 billion) in digital infrastructure through the Abu Dhabi Government Digital Strategy 2025-2027, Abu Dhabi hopes to automate all of its government operations.
Among other things, the strategy will see the implementation of more than 200 AI-driven solutions to enhance the delivery of public services, increase operational efficiency and support environmental sustainability. This is demonstrated by technologies like TAMM 3.0, Abu Dhabi’s one-stop app for government services, which has made over 73% of transactions recently and cut down on offline client visits by 90%.
“This agreement represents a significant milestone in G42’s dedication to advancing Abu Dhabi’s goal of becoming the first fully AI-native government in the world,” Peng Xiao continued. Government organizations can preserve data sovereignty while utilizing massive innovation with Core42’s Sovereign Public Cloud, which is powered by Azure and augmented by the insights of our sovereign controls platform. This effort establishes a global standard for innovation and goes beyond technological advancement. It is a dedication to creating a robust, future-ready digital infrastructure for AI modernization throughout Abu Dhabi government agencies.
This partnership between G42, Microsoft and the Abu Dhabi government shows how deliberate digital transformation can support more responsive and effective government operations. The emirate’s dedication to facilitating a responsible AI-powered future that encourages innovation and provides people-centric services in line with the highest international standards is further demonstrated by the deployment of AI and sovereign cloud technologies.
