The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU)’s Global Livability Index for 2024 shows that Abu Dhabi and Dubai are still the most livable cities in the Middle East and Africa, and they have improved in terms of health care and education.

Dubai was placed in second place by the index, which emphasizes its improvement in the same categories.

Based on the Numbeo website’s “Crime and Safety Indexes,” Abu Dhabi is regarded as one of the world’s safest cities. With an overall score of 88.2 on the Safety Index and 11.8 on the Crime Index, the city was named #1 in the world. Conversely, Dubai came in at number five on the list of safest cities in the world.

In terms of health, data from a report released by the Dubai Health Authority recently revealed that as of the first quarter of 2024, the emirate has 5,020 licensed and operating healthcare facilities and 13,370 licensed doctors.

At the same time, Abu Dhabi has 3,323 healthcare facilities, comprising 287 other facilities categorized as healthcare establishments, 67 hospitals, 1,136 health centers, 765 clinics, and 1,068 pharmacies.By the end of 2022, Abu Dhabi will have 12,922 licensed physicians on staff.

In terms of educational institutions, during the 2023–2024 school year, there were 459 schools in Abu Dhabi—private, public, and mixedwhile there were 220 private schools in Dubai.

Gulf countries, which are stable and are becoming more influential on the international scene, were home to eight of the top 10 cities in the area. Kuwait City, Doha, and Bahrain ranked third, fourth, and fifth among them, respectively.

One of the world’s economic superpowers, the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) attracts talent from all over the world and allocates enormous amounts of capital to it.

The stability, health care, education, culture and environment, and infrastructure are the five criteria used to evaluate the 173 cities that make up the worldwide index.
